I took up Pilates after the birth of my daughter in 2005, largely because a friend had told me it was the best way to rediscover my pelvic floor! She was right, I did find it, but I also discovered so much more. I love Pilates, not just because of all the physical benefits that it has brought me – longer, stronger muscles, better posture, improved flexibility and balance – but also because it gives me precious time to forget everything else and simply focus on myself.
Before having children, I worked on various food magazines and for a year or two had the enviable job of being a restaurant critic and for a long time I thought I would never find a better way to make a living than that. It turns out, however, that teaching Pilates, helping and watching people become more confident and at ease with their bodies is just that, and a lot less fattening…
I started training with Body Control Pilates, the leading provider of Pilates training in the UK in 2012 and qualified in 2013. I continue to work with them and other world-class teachers on developing both my teaching skills and my own Pilates techniques.
